As part of the Sloan Program industry immersion experience, each year Sloan students take an intersession field-trip in January, between the Fall and Spring semesters, visiting Washington and New York on alternate years.

The New York City trip provides an opportunity to visit academic and public medical centers with a focus on the management challenges faced by large, urban medical centers and teaching hospitals. The Program also seeks to make available “shadowing” experiences with senior Sloan alumni or colleagues in the area to complement the formal presentations and tours.

The Washington, DC, trip allows students to meet with health policymakers and ranking health officials and representatives of special interest and consumer advocacy groups to learn how policy is crafted and implemented and how it influences the delivery of health services.
