Meet our Officers- 2009-2010
Namar Al-GanasNamar Al-Ganas
President
Namar L. Al-Ganas is a graduate of the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota where he earned a BSB in Accounting and Finance. While a student at the U of M, he worked as a Patient Transporter for United Hospital in St. Paul, MN and became interested in a career that combined healthcare and business. As an undergrad, he was fortunate to intern for several firms, including Accenture Consulting, where he worked for a large national health insurer. After graduation, he continued to work for Accenture for almost 2 years and was staffed on a large IT project before joining the Sloan program. Namar’s MHA summer internship will be at the University of Pennsylvania’s Health System in Philadelphia, PA where he will have the opportunity to work on the system’s strategic plan and an IT implementation. His current interests are strategic planning and hospital management, healthcare consulting, and health insurance. While serving as President of the SSA, he would like to help maintain solid relationships among students, faculty and alumni.
Amanda JenkinsAmanda Jenkins
Secretary
Amanda Jenkins joined the Sloan Program while completing her undergraduate degree as a member of the 5 Year BS/MHA program. She earned a BS in Human Biology Health in Society and minor in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University in 2009.  Amanda is interested in hospital operations specific to Children's Hospitals. She is looking forward to her 2009 summer internship at Winnie Palmer Hospital, a Women and Infant hospital located in Orlando, FL.
samira saifiSamira Saifi
Treasurer
Samira Saifi joined the Sloan Program while completing her undergraduate degree as a member of the 5 year BS/MHA program. She earned a BS in Biology and Society with a concentration in Neurobiology and Development. Samira spent the past summer traveling through India, visiting rural medical clinics, and examining problems with delivering adequate health care in third world nations. She is looking forward to spending her summer interning at the Cleveland Clinic.
Colin NashColin Nash
Colloquia Chair
Colin Nash joined the Sloan Program after earning a BS in Human Biology, Health and Society from Cornell University and captaining the Varsity football team as a senior. After working as a care assistant in an acute brain trauma rehabilitation center in Rochester, NY and gaining valuable clinical experience, Colin recognized his passion for healthcare. He has accepted an internship this summer within Weill Cornell Medical Center’s Neurosurgery department. He anticipates this experience will greatly aid him in his professional growth and understanding of the healthcare industry. As Colloquia Chair, Colin is eager to provide current healthcare leaders with a meaningful forum for discussing pertinent issues in healthcare.
Kathlyn KeoghKathlyn Keogh
Social Chair
Kathlyn Keogh is a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.  She graduated with a BSM in Accounting and a double major in Psychology.  She will be completing her internship this summer at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she will working in the areas of quality improvement, management of patient complaint data, and risk assessment.  Kathlyn was inspired to enter the realm of hospital administration and healthcare management after the wreckage caused by Hurricane Katrina in her hometown of New Orleans highlighted the problems that existed in the internal networks of area hospitals.  Her interests remain in the areas of risk and disaster management as well as internal hospital communication systems.
Soyoung KimSoyoung Kim
Community Service Chair
Soyoung Kim joined the Sloan Program while completing her undergraduate degree as a member of the 5 Year BS/MHA program. She earned her BS within the same department, Policy Analysis & Management with a concentration in Health Care & Policy this past May. She completed her internship with a physician management group, DoctorsXL over the summer in Portland, Oregon. She had the opportunity to explore and develop innovative new solutions for a kidney dialysis clinic while working directly with physicians.
Tristan KoukTristan Kouk
Recruitment Chair
Tristan Kouk joined the Sloan Program after graduating from Cornell University in 2008. As an undergraduate, he earned a BS in human biology, health and society from the college of Human Ecology. His past healthcare experience includes a summer with the Tuba City Regional Healthcare Corporation in Arizona, and he is looking forward to interning with the Dallas Regional Medical Center in Dallas, Texas this summer. He will have a chance to work closely with the CEO and gain experience on how to maintain a fully-efficient community hospital in the hopes of developing a career as a hospital administrator.
Logan GeenLogan Geen
Career Services Chair
Logan joined the Sloan Program after graduating in December 2007 from Roberts Wesleyan College (Rochester, NY) with a B.S. in Business Management. Geen spent several years working with Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester as an Ambulatory Patient Representative, including working full-time before joining Sloan.  His experiences in the hospital gave him exposure to frontline operations in the Image Service Center and Emergency Department, as well as the opportunity to interact with physicians, nurses, and patients.  He also completed an internship at the law firm Harter Secrest & Emery, and an externship at Johns Hopkins Hospital.  This summer his administrative residency will be at Duke University Hospital, helping to put together the hospital's first nursing annual report.  Logan is primarily interested in operations and strategy development for academic medical centers and health systems.
